Senate Schedules Thursday Ukraine Briefing

Potential Russian invasion requires expert input.

As Moscow congregates an estimated 120,000 troops near the border between Russia and Ukraine, leaders of the House and Senate requested meetings with President Biden’s administration officials to begin planning what actions they could potentially take. Though a House briefing has not yet been confirmed, the president’s administration agreed to brief the Senate on Thursday to inform the legislative branch of the developing situation.

Thus far, the Pentagon has put 8,500 troops on high alert and the Senate is preparing to implement a number of sanctions to penalize Russia should they invade Ukraine. It is likely that if an invasion occurs, NATO countries will deploy a rapid response force in Eastern Europe and join U.S. troops in the response.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his administration as they brief Congress on U.S. military support planned for NATO forces.
  • For Senators as sanctions are being deliberated for Russia.
  • For Representatives in the House to have discernment as they work with the president’s administration.
  • For wisdom for Pentagon officials as military preparations are being set in motion.
